For gas bottles filled on site, the unit must be 3m or more away or 1/2m above

For replacement gas bottles, the unit must be 1.5m or more away or 1/2m above

Q: Should I be looking at horsepower or kilowatts?
A: Kw is more a accurate measure but its easier to understand hp

Q: Can you tell me about the different refrigerant types
A: R22 is an ozone depleting refrigerant. It will be phased out by 2020
R410a is an ozone friendly gas and units running on this gas tend to be quieter.
Good quality inverters will use R410a

Q: What is the difference between and Inverter and a non Inverter
A: the easy way to explain this is that a non Inverter has a fixed speed compressor.
An Inverter has a variable speed compressor that saves power by not stopping and starting all the time and it is also a lot quieter.

Q: How do I keep my Air Conditioner Clean?
A: You need to make sure you clean your filters regularly and replace them if they are torn or damaged.

Q: What sort of things should I look for when purchasing an Air Conditioner?
A: There are many things to consider when choosing an Air Conditioner. You
need to decided on your budget as prices can vary greatly depending on the brands that you choose.
It is very important that you get the right size unit for the room that you want to cool/heat. Your installer will be able to help you with this.
Check star ratings and energy ratings.
Also check consumption and noise levels.
Make sure that you Air Conditioner comes with a good warranty. Most good quality units come with a 5 year in house parts and labour warranty. Be careful because some advertising may say 5 year warranty but when you check it will be for the compressor only.

 

 

 



Q:Why doesn't my Air Conditioner work straight away when I use it for
heating?

A: Because you are asking for hot air it needs to pre heat. This can take between 30 seconds and 3 minutes

Q: Can I install my Air Conditioner myself?
A: Yes but you will void your warranty unless you are licensed. You will also need to have the right equipment to be able to complete the job correctly.

Q: How often should I clean the filter in my Air Conditioner?
A: It really depends on how often you use your Air Conditioner but generally every 2 weeks or so.

Q: How do I clean my filter?
Simply remove it and wash in warm water. Do not use detergents as this can damage the fins on the evaporator.

Q: How long does it take to install an Air Conditioner?
A: Between 1 ½ and 3 hours by a qualified installer but this will depend on the difficulty of the installation.


Q: How does an Air conditioner work?
A: Your Air Conditioner is a refrigeration unit. The outdoor unit compresses the gas into a liquid which is then pumped to the indoor unit were it expands back into a gas. This process creates cold and the process of compressing it into a liquid creates heat. Air is drawn into the indoor unit across the refrigeration coil. This removes the moisture and cools the air.

Q: Why does it cost so much to have my air con installed?
There are a lot of expensive tools that required to complete an installation to a high standard. A lot of products are also used for your installation. Some of the things that may be used include:
Duct, duct caps, screws, wall mates, nylon anchors, Dyna bolts, insulation tape, duct tap, gap sealer, silicon, copper pipe, silver solder, rubber feet, concrete slabs, brackets, electrical cable, connectors etc.
